Multiple Surnames

Use RDA 9.2.2.10 to determine which part of the surname to use as the first element in the authorized access point, and record variant access points from other parts of the surname. If the surname is hyphenated, don’t forget to include the hyphen if using the second part as the first element of the access point. If the surnames are separated by commas in printed sources, omit the commas from the access points.

Note: Examples 1 and 3 are illustrative of this guidance only; other aspects of the records do not necessarily conform to current NACO standards.
